The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Department of Finance are accepting applications for a Property Tax Manager (Finance Services Supervisor) opportunity. Under the direction of the Division Chief, the Property Tax Manager will oversee the daily operations of a property tax team which consists of 12 full-time professional and support staff employees. The incumbent will interpret and explain existing property tax policies and procedures; ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax rolls, tax collection and apportionments, and other property tax processes; oversee the performance of the property tax software system, including identifying and implementing new functionalities, conducting analysis of operating problems and determining reporting requirements; and provide direction to line staff, including input into performance planning and staff evaluations.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in governmental property tax calculation/distribution and/or collections and a strong background providing direct supervision to a team focused on finance and receipt of cash/payments. This individual has extensive experience in a fast-paced, customer service environment and in identifying process improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate is technically savvy and has experience working with an enterprise resource planning system and/or financial software applications (e.g., ERP, property tax systems, point of sale systems). In addition, he/she has excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and document appropriate calculation methodologies utilized in accordance with governmental rules and regulations. 

Qualifications:

A seven year combination of relevant coursework and professional experience. A typical way of achieving these requirements would be graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, economics, business administration, public administration or a field related to the assignment and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience related to the area of assignment, at least one year of which must have included advanced journey experience. Experience in a governmental agency or working with government clients is required.
