Description:
The County of Monterey invites your interest for the position of Real Property Specialist. The current vacancy exists in the Resource Management Agency(RMA)-Public Works Department. The Eligible List established by this recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies on a permanent or temporary basis County-wide.
Qualifications:
The Successful Candidate
Will demonstrate the following knowledge:
– Principles, practices, processes, and regulations applicable to
the acquisition, disposal, and leasing of real property.
– Principles and practices of property appraisal, negotiations,
and disposition.
– Funding, administration, and approval processes related to real
property.
– Accounting principles and practices.
– Building, parcel, survey, infrastructure, and geographical
terms applicable to real property.
– Contract and agreement legal forms, for professional services
and commodities related to real property activities.
And skill and ability to:
– Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to
engage in effective negotiations and management level discussion;
and to prepare, process, and present reports and other business
communications.
– Plan and coordinate activities in a timely manner.
– Manage multiple tasks and projects, concurrently and/ or
intermittently.
– Apply analytical skill sufficient to conduct return on
investment (ROI) studies, probable consequences, etc.
– Collect, interpret, and evaluate mathematical and financial
data.
– Operate a personal computer and software programs such as
Microsoft Office Suite, and other software related to real
property and building management.
– Supervise or direct clerical or line staff as needed to execute
assigned tasks.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of real property related funding, accounting,
administration, approval processes, and contract and agreement
legal forms applicable to the public sector.
Examples of Experience/Education/Training:
Any combination of training, education and/or experience which
provides for the knowledge, skills and abilities required to
perform the duties listed above is qualifying. An example of a
way these requirements might be acquired is:
Three (3) years experience in real property management,
appraisal, and acquisition involving a variety of properties and
completion of all coursework leading to a Bachelor’s Degree in
business administration, real estate, public administration,
engineering, or a related field.

The selection process is tentative and applicants will be

The competitive selection process includes submittal of required

– Responses to the supplemental questions

competitively evaluated. Those applicants that are determined to
be the most appropriately qualified will be invited to
participate further in the selection process. To assess
applicants’ possession of required qualifications, the process
may include an oral examination, pre-exam exercises, performance
exam, and/or written examination.
