Description:

THE JOB: There are currently three vacancies, two in the Department of Public Works (DPW) and one in the Planning Department as described below:

DPW Flood Control – Under direction, administers stream and habitat maintenance programs; oversees flood control and drainage programs; conducts resource and environmental planning studies; reviews programmatic conformance with environmental policies, regulations, and permits; assists in administering environmental resource related grant programs and construction projects; conducts field work in support of various flood control projects and programs, including supporting the localized flood monitoring system

DPW Solid Waste and Recycling – Under direction, supports the development of integrated resource plans, performs analysis of regulatory and legislative activities and monitors the development of new supply technologies for Solid Waste and Recycling, works with the public and consultants as required, conduct outreach and education, and writes grants for related programs and assists Program Manager on landfill and transfer station on various issues as needed.

Planning – Under direction, reviews land development applications for conformance with environmental and general plan policies; conducts field inspections and identifies and evaluates biologic, geologic and related environmental issues; prepares and presents staff reports and findings on environmental permits and projects for internal staff and reviewing bodies; identifies violations of environmental regulations
