$64,022-$76,544 Annually + confidential pay

Description:

The Staff Assistant – Board of Supervisors  is an at-will position, that under the direction of the Director of  Housing and Intergovernmental Affairs (HIA) or designee, provides support to the members of the Board of Supervisors and performs a wide variety of liaison, coordination, constituency and administrative support work on confidential and sensitive issues.  The Staff Assistant – BOS may accompany or represent the Supervisors at a neighborhood, business, social, or community meeting.

The incumbent must be able to quickly adapt to the needs of the Board of Supervisors and the community they serve by working on projects that may be either analytical or clerical in nature. Other duties include researching and analyzing local issues on various subjects and undertaking comprehensive, long-term projects pertaining to the business of the Board of Supervisors.

· Politically astute professional with an in-depth understanding of the issues faced by California county governments
 

· Connected to the community in which they will work and eager to work with constituents 

· Experienced in working in political environments

· Capable of using good judgement when establishing task priority and level of attention for various issues

· Superior oral and written communication skills

· Adapts to varying work assignments and is flexible

Required Experience and Education

Experience— Two years of significant, directly related and progressively responsible confidential support experience in a public sector or private agency which involved sensitive public issues is desirable.

Education— Graduation from an accredited college with major coursework in public or business administration, political science, or  a related field.

License or Certificate— Possession of a valid CA driver’s license.
