The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Risk Management Division of the County Administrator’s Office are announcing a recruitment for the position of Workers’ Compensation Analyst. There is currently one (1) full-time regular hire vacancy.

The Workers’ Compensation Analyst oversees the County’s Self-Insured Workers’ Compensation Program administered by a Third Party Administrator (TPA); directs the County’s return to work program as the Transitional Work Coordinator; mitigates work–related claims-based issues; serves as a liaison between TPA and staff; and performs related analytical, statistical and cost analysis studies. In addition, this positon assists in the preparation and presentation of county-wide training of Workers’ Compensation and the Transitional Work Program and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has experience designing and implementing return to work programs, including identifying and addressing barriers to an employee’s return and facilitating work accommodations. (S)he is self-directed with excellent judgment and decision making skills. The ability to communicate verbally with a wide range of personalities and stakeholders is highly valued as is the ability to write clear, concise and effective training materials, safety procedures and reports. Demonstrated knowledge of California laws and regulations relative to workers’ compensation; administration of compensation benefits and medical aspects of claims management are highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional experience in workers’ compensation claims administration, including some combined experience in environmental health & safety, risk management, human resources, return to work programs and ergonomic assessments. Additional experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis for up to two years.

Additional Requirements:
• Possession of a California Self-Insurance Administrator’s Certificate
• Possession and maintenance of a valid California class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving history as obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
