POSITION:
The County of Ventura is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Director of the General Services Agency (GSA), a pivotal executive role reporting directly to the County Executive Officer. This at-will position is fully accountable for the strategic oversight and operations of the County’s centralized support services, encompassing facilities management, fleet operations, procurement, and park management. The Director will guide a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective services that support all County agencies, departments, and special districts. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality of life in Ventura County by ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of essential support services.

Director General Services Agency is an at-will position which is exempt from the provisions of the Civil Service Ordinance.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

Comprehensive experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. The required knowledge, skills and abilities can also be obtained by completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field with four (4) or more years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience including substantial program, line, and budgetary responsibility.
 
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid California driver license;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and dynamically lead teams to meet specific goals, both operational and strategic.

DESIRED:

  • Extensive experience in a senior/executive management role for a large public sector organization or campus environment.
  • Experience leading teams of diverse stakeholders to meet specific goals, both operational and strategic;
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
