CSAC Challenge Awards Spotlight: Riverside County’s Dashboard Turns Data Into Action
Back to News
Riverside County is harnessing the power of data to improve government performance and responsiveness. The County’s Executive Office Dashboard, a recipient of a 2024 CSAC Challenge Award, is transforming how leadership accesses and uses real-time information to make smarter, faster decisions.
Designed by the County Executive Office in collaboration with internal departments, the dashboard consolidates key performance indicators from across county operations into a single, user-friendly platform. It provides county leaders with up-to-date data on public safety, homelessness, health services, capital projects, financial performance, and more—allowing them to track progress, identify emerging challenges, and respond proactively.
Before the dashboard, performance tracking often relied on static reports that were outdated by the time they were reviewed. Now, with just a few clicks, executives and department heads can access live data that informs strategic planning, budget discussions, and operational decisions. It also allows the Board of Supervisors to engage in more evidence-based policymaking, guided by transparent, easy-to-understand metrics.
Importantly, the dashboard also promotes alignment across departments. By giving everyone access to the same data in the same format, the tool helps break down silos and supports a more collaborative, outcomes-driven culture. Teams can now focus on measurable goals, monitor progress in real time, and adjust tactics quickly when needed.
Riverside County’s Executive Office Dashboard is more than a performance tool—it’s a model for modern, data-informed governance. As counties across California look to improve transparency and accountability, this initiative offers a compelling example of how technology can enhance public service at every level.
