Learn How the California Carpet Stewardship Program Supports Local Recycling Goals
Back to News
The California Carpet Stewardship Program is a statewide carpet recycling program administered by non-profit stewardship organization, the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE). The program ensures postconsumer carpet is reused, recycled, or properly disposed of, working to increase carpet recycling and reduce the amount of carpet waste sent to landfills.
To advance these efforts, CARE is reaching out to local governments, community organizations, and Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) to share updates on program progress and highlight opportunities for collaboration and feedback. Through these discussions, CARE provides an overview of the program, including details on how local governments can set up drop-off sites and request resources. CARE invites local agencies, TACs, and community organizations to schedule a presentation to learn more about how the Carpet Stewardship Program can support your community’s sustainability and recycling objectives, including helping jurisdictions meet their AB 939 and AB 341 requirements.
CARE also hosts a virtual Local Government Task Force that meets annually to share updates on carpet recycling initiatives and foster greater collaboration statewide. You are invited to join the Task Force and provide input on how CARE can better support local governments to improve carpet recycling efforts.
