Your Role
Reporting to the County Executive, the Assistant County Executive plays a pivotal role in advancing community priorities, supporting countywide initiatives, and ensuring seamless operations that improve the lives of residents every day.

As the second-in-command to the County Executive, you will:

  • Provide high-level support to the County Executive and the Board of Supervisors.
  • Strengthen partnerships and alignment of the County’s vision with that of the Board of Supervisors, department heads, community leaders, and regional stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the County Executive’s initiatives and special projects.
  • Oversee strategic planning, community engagement, and programming for key County programs and projects.
  • Drive innovation and results in a complex public service environment.
  • Act as the CEO in the County Executive’s absence.

Key priorities

  • Improve life outcomes of children, families and seniors in the community.
  • Prepare for wildfires, earthquakes and floods.
  • Address workforce housing.
  • Strengthen County’s capacity to adapt to shifting economic and fiscal landscapes.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership in a large, complex public agency, including at least two years in a senior executive capacity.
  • Track Record of Leadership: Demonstrated ability to guide organizations through change, manage multi-million-dollar budgets, oversee diverse teams, and deliver results on major initiatives.
  • Strategic & Innovative Thinking: Skilled in balancing long-term vision with pragmatic solutions, and in creating strategies that address evolving community needs.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Proven success in building partnerships with governing boards, department leaders, community groups, and external stakeholders.
