Clinical DIrector – Behavioral Health Services (Psychiatrist)
The County of San Diego is seeking a dynamic physician with a passion for building healthy communities. This is an exceptional opportunity for a California licensed, Board-certified, Psychiatrist to help transform the local behavioral health continuum of care and lead important work within the Health and Human Services Agency’s Behavioral Health Services department.
Duties include:
• Serves as Chief Clinical Advisor to the department on behavioral health clinical areas: psychotropic medications, behavioral therapeutic care of patients, and evaluation and improvement of behavioral health plan (BHP) network and County program practices.
• Provides clinical oversight and is the clinical authority for County direct service programs, including outpatient mental health, case management and hospital services at the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital and the Edgemoor Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility.
• Reviews and evaluates County and contracted behavioral health services for conformance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. • Recommends service delivery plans for County-wide, regional, and specialty services.
• Directs staff and provides clinical leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality assurance, care management and utilization management across County services and the BHP network.
• Prepares executive-level reports and correspondence and assists in preparing presentations to the Board of Supervisors and members of other legislative authorities.
• Represents the County at meetings or conferences with other public and private agencies, organizations, or councils.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following:
- Three (3) years of full-time administrative experience managing children’s/adult regional behavioralhealth programs, one (1) year of which must have been in a communitybehavioral health program
- 2. A valid license to practice medicine in the State of California at time of appointment
Note: A valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI) is required at the time of employment. Incumbents are required to maintain the NPI throughout employment in this class.
