County Administrative Officer
Colusa County is hiring a County Administrative Officer (CAO) to lead its dynamic, fast-paced administrative team. The CAO serves as the County’s top executive, advising the Board of Supervisors, managing key departments (including Human Resources, Risk Management, and Central Services), and overseeing the County budget. As Budget Officer and chief advisor, the CAO also shapes policy initiatives, legislative priorities, and long-term planning across the organization.

This position requires at least five years of progressively responsible public sector experience and a bachelor’s degree in public/business administration or a related field (or equivalent experience). A valid California driver’s license is required.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience
Five years of increasingly responsible experience performing complex budgetary, financial, policy, and organizational analysis duties for a County or other large governmental agency, including experience working directly with an elected Board or Council and experience as a lead worker or supervisor of professional or management staff.
Training:
College course work equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or closely related field. Degree in Public Administration is desirable, but not required. Additional related work experience may be substituted for college coursework on a year for year basis.
License or Certificate
A valid State of California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
