Deputy Chief Probation Officer
The Probation Department is recruiting for Deputy Chief Probation Officers who administer all functions of a major probation bureau. Responsibilities include: planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the programs of a bureau; reviewing procedures and methods for effectiveness and efficiency in meeting departmental objectives; training, supervising, and evaluating subordinate management and supervisory staff; handling personnel issues and disciplinary matters; and budget administration. Positions in this class report to the Assistant Chief Probation Officer.
Applicants must meet the education and experience requirements.
- Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience directing activities and operations of a major treatment facility/institution, region, or section consisting of diverse units and programs in a Probation Department. Experience must be equivalent to a San Bernardino County Probation Division Director II.*
*San Bernardino County Probation Division Director I experience is not considered qualifying.
Desired Qualifications
A comprehensive background in the field of Probation and a Master’s degree are highly desirable.
