$5000. Initial Hire/$5000. Upon Completion of Probation

It is intended that the successful candidate for this position will be assigned primarily to represent Child Protective Services (CPS), providing advisory and litigation services in connection with dependency proceedings, including appeals. The successful candidate will receive other assignments based upon the experience and interests of the candidate, and the needs of the office.

DEFINITION

Deputy County Counsel II

Under general direction, to perform complex legal work in the interpretation and application of law for the County of Amador and its various subdivisions; to perform legal research and represent the County in assigned legal proceedings and transactions; and to do related work as required.

Deputy County Counsel III

Under general direction, to perform the more difficult and complex professional legal work in the interpretation and application of laws for the County of Amador and its various departments and   subdivisions; to perform legal research and represent the County as a member of the County Counsel’s Office in assigned legal proceedings and transactions; and to do related work as required.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

Equivalent to possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.

 

Experience

Deputy County Counsel II

Three (3) years experience in practice of civil law involving (a) civil litigation or (b) at least three (3) years of work as a deputy county counsel, or assistant city attorney or in other public law practice.

Deputy County Counsel III

Three (3) years of experience in the practice of civil law comparable to that of a Deputy County Counsel II with the County of Amador.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Possession of a current and valid California Driver’s license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
