Deputy Director of Finance

Centrally located and serving as the eastern anchor of the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, the City of Fremont (pop. 233,974) is the region’s fourth-largest city and a center of innovation and culture with one of the most diverse populations in the Bay Area. The Finance Department’s high-performing team of 28 FTE is responsible for safeguarding the City’s financial resources and providing analysis, planning, and financial leadership to support informed decision-making and long-term fiscal sustainability.

The City seeks a collaborative, forward-thinking municipal finance professional who combines exceptional technical expertise with the ability to think strategically and to contribute as a trusted member of the City’s leadership team. The ideal candidate will bring broad municipal finance experience, with strength in budget development, treasury operations, long-range financial planning, and analysis.

Ideal candidates will bring five years of progressively responsible public finance experience, including two years in a managerial or supervisory role, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
