Description

The Director of Child Support Services oversees all activities of the department and provides leadership for program planning, fiscal management, policy development, and service delivery. This position works closely with the County Administrative Office, Board of Supervisors, Courts, state and federal agencies, and community partners to ensure efficient and effective child support services for the community.

The Humboldt-Trinity Child Support Agency serves families across both Humboldt and Trinity counties and is committed to promoting parental responsibility and supporting the well-being of children through professional and responsive child support services.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Ø  Planning, organizing, and directing departmental operations, programs, policies, and work standards

Ø  Overseeing preparation and administration of the department budget and monitoring expenditures

Ø  Advising the County Administrative O ficer and Board of Supervisors on policy, operational, and regulatory matters

Ø  Directing and evaluating program operations to ensure efficient service delivery

Ø  Leading, mentoring, and supporting professional and support staff

Ø  Monitoring changes in laws and regulations affecting child support services and ensuring compliance

Ø  Representing the County in meetings with local, state, and federal agencies

Ø  Serving as liaison with the Courts regarding child support enforcement procedures and policy matters

Ø  Directing the preparation of administrative and technical reports

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an experienced public sector leader with strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to public service. They will bring the ability to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day operational oversight while maintaining strong working relationships with staff, community partners, County leadership, and external agencies.

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws governing child support services programs

Experience working within a child support services environment and collaborating with Courts and government agencies is highly desirable.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration or a related field, and four years of supervisory or administrative experience in a child support services setting which has included budget administration, program planning, implementation, and administration.

Must possess a valid California driver’s license
