The City of Ojai is seeking a skilled, hands-on Finance Director to lead its Finance Department and play a key role in strengthening financial systems, implementing best practices, mentoring junior staff, and fostering transparency and trust in a highly engaged community.
Nestled in a stunning valley near Santa Barbara, Ojai (pop. ~8,000) is known for its natural beauty, small-town charm, and vibrant arts scene. The City operates with 46.8 FTE, a General Fund budget of $16.7M, and strong reserves.
This is a pivotal moment for the department. The new Director will modernize financial processes, formalize policies, develop staff, and ensure accurate reporting and compliance—all while working alongside a supportive City Manager and Council committed to financial best practices.
The ideal candidate is technically proficient, ethical, collaborative, and experienced in municipal finance.
Requires eight years of progressively responsible accounting experience, five years in a supervisory role, and a bachelor’s in accounting or related field. Salary: $182,605–$221,941 DOE + excellent benefits.
