The Amador Water Agency (AWA) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking General Manager to lead a vital public utility serving the residents and communities of Amador County. This is a rare opportunity to provide executive leadership for a complex water and wastewater agency in one of California’s most scenic and historically rich regions.

Reporting to a five-member elected Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operation of the Agency. This includes implementing Board policies, overseeing daily and long-term operations, directing department managers, leading strategic planning efforts, managing budgets, negotiating and administering contracts, and representing the Agency with governmental partners, community stakeholders, and the public.

The successful candidate will be a proven executive leader with deep knowledge of water and wastewater operations, public agency administration, and regulatory compliance. They will be a collaborative team builder, an effective communicator, and a strategic thinker capable of guiding capital improvements, managing complex budgets, and navigating sensitive community and Board issues.
