Description

THE POSITION: The County of Ventura’s Human Resources Division, part of the County Executive Office, is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and developing a diverse, qualified workforce committed to excellent public service. The current vacancy is in the Quality Assurance Unit and involves a generalist role focused on compliance, efficiency, and innovation within human resources. Responsibilities include classification and compensation studies, administrative investigations, test development and validation, recruitment, and operational audits. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, analytical, and creative, with competencies in relationship building, critical thinking, project management, and communication. While prior experience in these areas is preferred, the role can be tailored to the candidate’s strengths. A strong background in public-sector human resources and a graduate degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is desired. Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have significant professional-level public sector human resources experience, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Human Resources Analyst: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field, plus three (3) years of relevant HR experience, including investigations, recruitments, exam development, or classification and compensation studies.

Senior Human Resources Analyst: Requires the same degree plus five (5) years of similar professional-level HR experience.

Substitutions: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A relevant graduate degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Special Requirements: Candidates must demonstrate excellent written communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making throughout the selection process.
