Description:
There is one (1) Full Time Regular Hire vacancy in the Housing & Federal Grants Division.
The Planner will support housing policy in the County, develop and implement programs from the Housing Element, review and analyze housing and related data, review development applications for conformance with applicable housing policies and regulations, and make recommendations to the appropriate decision maker. The Planner will also review funding applications from nonprofit developers, organizations and public agencies, make funding recommendations, prepare and administer funding contracts, and monitor projects. In addition, the Planner will monitor federal grants projects.
Our Highly Qualified Candidate:
Our highly qualified candidate is a critical thinker who possesses excellent writing and presentation skills and a strong foundation in the principles of general plan and zoning in California. More specifically, they are familiar with affordable housing policy, state housing laws, and federal grants, and have managed related planning projects, developed associated policy and/or administered grants. The successful candidate can utilize Geographic Information Systems to conduct analysis, has experience with graphics, a strong background in public outreach and desires to be part of a dynamic team working to effect housing policy in our community. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and work in a fast-paced environment and is committed to enhancing their knowledge and technical skills through direct experience. In addition, they will possess excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and an open mind set with a proactive approach to innovation and implementation of creative solutions, and a strong commitment to customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from college with a major in planning, geography, architecture, landscape architecture or closely related field and possession of the knowledge and ability requirements AND a minimum of one year of professional land use related planning experience.
Hybrid schedule:
CDA has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed and deemed appropriate. During the initial probationary period, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.
