Pubic Works Program Manager – Engineering Division
The Public Works Program Manager leads and supports a team of engineering and technical staff while overseeing the Engineering Division within the Public Works Agency. This role is responsible for directing complex engineering programs; reviewing and evaluating technical work products, methods, and procedures; and ensuring all activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Under the direction of the Public Works Director, this position provides direct supervision, establishes project schedules and work plans, prepares and administers budgets, and ensures engineering services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with agency goals.
- Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relevant to engineering and public works programs
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply technical standards, engineering principles, and administrative requirements to division operations
- Proficiency in analyzing engineering and administrative problems, evaluating technical work methods, and recommending effective improvements or modifications
- Skill in reviewing, prioritizing, and supervising technical and professional engineering work, including complex reports, calculations, and project plans
- Competence in applying advanced mathematical concepts such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis to engineering tasks and program evaluation
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Four years of professional experience in assigned field, including one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in appropriate field. Master’s degree desirable. Two years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree.
