Senior Payroll Technician
The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Senior Payroll Technician within the Human Resources Department. This position will perform a wide variety of advanced level payroll activities involving the analysis and implementation of payroll regulations and laws, and the processing and preparation of County-wide payrol while exercising independent judgment in resolving problems within established department guidelines. As a secondary assignment, the position will serve as the lead worker to train, guide, check, assign, and correct the work of Payroll Technicians and/or other clerical staff.
The ideal candidate:
- Has lead experienced in payroll and personnel transactions processing, preferably within a government or unionized environment.
- Is comfortable in a fast-paced, detail-oriented position serving the County of Yolo employees and departments.
- Is a positive, customer focused, self-directed employee that enjoys working closely with a variety of stakeholders to meet the needs of the organization.
- Is skilled in computer applications with a quick ability to learn a new payroll system and processes.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate; AND five (5) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting documents and records, at least two (2) years of which included processing payroll documents comparable to the Yolo County class of Payroll Technician.
Substitution: Completion of college coursework may substitute for up to two years of the non-payroll experience, on the basis that thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units is equivalent to one year of experience.
License
