Sierra County is recruiting for a Director of Behavioral Health

The Director is responsible for the administrative and clinical management of the Department of Behavioral Health. Responsibilities include the management and operations of Mental Health, The Mental Health Services Act, The Director of Behavioral Health acts as the Drug and Alcohol Program Administrator and those programs associated with each sub department of the Behavioral Health Agency. The Director is responsible for the management oversite, but not limited to establishing protocols, policies, and procedures applicable to all Behavioral Health staff and its programs as it relates to the department and the development of the  Mental Health Plan. The Director is responsible for day-today operations, supervision, and administration, including budget development and asset management. The Director supervises the work of clinical and administrative staff assigned to the respective programs and activities to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Behavioral Health.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: • Master’s degree in social work or behavioral/mental health from an accredited four-year college or university. • Five years progressively responsible administrative/management experience in a mental health setting. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Special Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. • Must be a licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist or a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. • Must complete periodic continuing education coursework as required to maintain active licensure. • Must possess or be willing to obtain a national provider identifier (NPI) • Within in six months of hire, the Director will be required to live in the county or within one hour response time to the Loyalton or Downieville offices to provide crisis services as needed.
