Berkeley People’s Alliance v. Berkeley (A172245)

Government Code section 54957.9 addresses when a disruptive member of the public can be removed from a public meeting. CSAC’s amicus brief emphasizes that the Brown Act (the State’s public meeting law) is intended to facilitate, not frustrate, the public’s business, and Section 54957.9 must be interpreted with that in mind. The brief was prepared by Michael Colantuono and Mihir Karode from Colantuono, Highsmith and Whatley in Sacramento.
