Back to News
The California Department of Resource Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) is currently accepting applications for Cycle 2 of the 2025-2026 Increased Recycling of Empty Glass Beverage Containers Grant Program. This program provides funding for regional pilot programs that boost the collection of recyclable glass beverage containers.
Local governments that operate a certified recycling center, collection/drop-off program, or community service program are eligible for funding through this grant program, with funding amounts ranging between $500,000 and $2,000,000 per grant award. Pilot programs funded through the grant program must purchase bins for the collection of empty glass beverage containers at restaurants and retail establishments, collect the bins and consolidate the collected materials, and transport collected empty glass beverage containers to a glass processing facility.
Applications are due December 4, 2025, and grant awards will be awarded in February 2026. For more information, please view the Application Guidelines and Instructions. For additional support, please email BevContainerGrants@calrecycle.ca.gov.
