$7.3 Million Available for Community Planning and Capacity Building Grants
Back to News
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is currently accepting applications for Community Planning and Capacity Building Grants. This grant supports community planning and readiness efforts for future clean transportation investments. $7.3 million dollars of grant funding is available, with individual grants up to $500,000 per project. Local and tribal governments, community-based organizations, and public schools are all eligible to apply. Projects must start by May 4, 2026, and be completed by January 31, 2028.
Community Planning and Capacity Building Grants are part of the California Climate Investments initiative, which uses Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) dollars from California’s Cap-and-Invest Program to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. CSAC advocated for the Cap-and-Invest program’s reauthorization as a part of the Climate Safe Infrastructure Coalition in 2025, urging the state to continue to invest in physical and natural climate adaptation strategies, including clean transportation infrastructure.
Applications are due February 10, 2026, and grants will be awarded in March 2026. CARB is accepting requests for technical assistance through January 23, 2026.
