On Wednesday, October 29, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., the California Department of Aging will host a webinar to discuss future impacts of SB 1249 on California’s aging network and services for older adults and caregivers.

Senate Bill 1249 was signed into law in 2024 and advanced several of the CA 2030 Steering Committee’s recommendations for a future-ready aging network in California. The legislation established CDA-led stakeholder processes to identify core programs and services, develop objectives and performance measurements for those core programs and services, develop a consumer engagement plan, and update the intrastate funding formula for area agencies on aging (AAAs). SB 1249 also required CDA to work with stakeholders to establish criteria for applying for a AAA designation and removing a AAA designation.

The webinar will include a review of three key areas relevant to SB 1249:

  • Funding Formulas
  • Planning and Service Area (PSA) and Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Designations
  • Statewide Services
