The California State Senate is honoring the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) with a formal resolution recognizing 130 years of dedicated service to California’s 58 counties.

Presented on the Senate floor by Senate President pro Tempore Mike McGuire, the resolution acknowledges CSAC’s longstanding role as a trusted voice for county government—advocating for sound policies, strengthening local services, and bringing county perspectives into critical state-level decision-making.

“CSAC is the voice, the muscle, and the heart of California’s 58 counties, and they do amazing work every day,” McGuire said as he presented the resolution. “Let’s give it up for CSAC — 130 years of doing good in the Golden State!”

Joining CSAC for this special occasion were several Executive Committee members who came to Sacramento to participate in the presentation: Supervisor Ned Coe of Modoc County, Supervisor Kent Boes of Colusa County, Supervisor Belia Ramos of Napa County, Supervisor Lucas Frerichs of Yolo County, and Supervisor Kelly Long of Ventura County.

Founded in 1895, CSAC has worked for more than a century to support counties in meeting the needs of their communities — from the earliest days of building basic infrastructure to today’s challenges around homelessness, disaster response, behavioral health and beyond. Throughout that time, CSAC has remained focused on uniting rural, urban and suburban counties around shared priorities and innovative, forward-thinking solutions.

“We’re honored by this recognition from the state Senate and proud to celebrate this milestone alongside California’s 58 counties,” said CSAC CEO Graham Knaus. “It reflects the strength of county leadership and the importance of our shared mission: to serve, support, and advocate for counties as they serve the people of California.”

As we mark 130 years, CSAC remains committed to advancing policies that empower counties, protect local resources, and build a stronger future for all Californians.
