CSAC Presidents Tour: Butte, Glenn, and Lake Counties

President and Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg’s county tour continued with visits to Butte, Glenn and Lake Counties.  Accompanied by CSAC Chief Legislative Advocate Kimberly Rodriguez, she spent two days exploring sites of local significance and connecting with county leaders and communities. 

This leg of the county tour started in Butte County, with a visit hosted by Supervisor Tod Kimmelshue and Supervisor Tami Ritter.

The first stop was at the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area, where they had a firsthand look at the Oroville Dam and discussed stormwater and debris flow challenges. 

The group also visited Everhart Village, a tiny-home community, developed in collaboration with Chico Housing Action Team. This team works in tandem with Butte County Behavioral Health to connect people who are experiencing homelessness to services and support.

The next stop was Glenn County. There, they joined Supervisor Grant Carmon and Supervisor Monica Rossman for a tour of Riverwest Processing to get a closer look at the county’s almond industry.  

The day continued with visits to Thunderhill Raceway Park and the Glenn County Behavioral Health facility which highlighted the diverse industries and services that support the Glenn County community.

On day two, CSAC President Ellenberg and Kimberly headed out to Lake County, where they met with Supervisor Bruno Sabatier. They began their day at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, where they toured the newly remodeled office and met with Sheriff Luke Bingham.

After a briefing on Lake County Tribal Health, the group headed out to a new County Behavioral Health and facility expansion building in Supervisor Jessica Pyska’s district.

Then it was time for a stop at the oldest lake in the United States, Clear Lake where they discussed the health of the lake and various environmental issues.

After that, the group headed to Supervisor Helen Owen’s district, where they learned about energy framework within the county.

The last stop in Lake County was to a proposed new county park: Clearklake Oaks John T Klaus Park.
