Sacramento, CA —California State Association of Counties (CSAC) CEO Graham Knaus issued the following statement Friday after the governor’s homelessness funding announcement 18 months after he signed the bill enacting it:

We’re thrilled these three counties — and the cities and continuums of care — are finally getting this money, 563 days after the governor signed it into law.

How much longer do unsheltered Californians in the other 55 counties have to wait?

Background/Context:

  • Today’s announcement only includes funding for the counties of San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego — as well as the associated cities and continuums of care.
  • This announcement includes no funding for any of the other counties, cities or continuums of care.
  • The governor signed legislation enacting this round of the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) program funding into law on July 2, 2024 (AB 166)
