On Tuesday, August 19 at 9 a.m. PST, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (OEIS), California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), and California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) are hosting an interagency public briefing about public safety power shutoffs (PSPS), an action utilities may take to temporarily turn off power to specific areas to reduce the risk of fires caused by electric infrastructure.
This briefing is part of the CPUC’s response to Assembly Bill 1054 (Holden, 2019), which was supported by CSAC and established a Wildfire Safety Advisory Board to develop recommendations for electric infrastructure safety and to share data and results of inspections and regulatory development.
The briefing will include presentations from:
- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)
- Southern California Edison Company (SCE)
- Bear Valley Electric Service, Inc. (BVES)
- San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E)
- Pacific Power (PacifiCorp)
