NACo Seeks Survey Responses for Stepping Up 2.0 for Rural Counties
Back to News
The National Association of Counties (NACo) is partnering with researchers from George Mason University and Michigan State University to evaluate the Stepping Up Initiative, which helps counties reduce incarceration and recidivism among people with mental health issues. Their research has shown that small and rural counties face distinct challenges and limited resources to address them.
The research team is applying for a National Institutes of Health grant that would provide no-cost, hands-on technical assistance to small counties to reduce the number of people with mental illnesses in jails. In order to submit a strong application, the research team needs to demonstrate interest from county leaders.
NACo is requesting county leaders to fill out a short survey about their county and areas where your county could use more support in addressing behavioral health needs within your justice system. The survey should take no more than five minutes and is not a commitment to participate in any kind. Access the survey here.
