New NACo Medicaid One-Pager, Upcoming Webinar Series
Back to News
The National Association of Counties (NACo) is offering new Medicaid resources as Congress explores major Medicaid reforms within the budget reconciliation process that would affect California’s Medi-Cal program.
On April 10, the House of Representatives narrowly approved the Senate’s budget framework. The resolution’s passage completes the first step of the reconciliation process, which enables the Senate to bypass the 60-vote filibuster.
Among the many provisions under consideration in the reconciliation package are proposals to cut Medicaid program funding. Specifically, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees Medicaid, is expected to look to identify at least $880 billion in cuts consistent with the earlier House budget resolution.
CSAC has advocated to protect these safety net programs as our top federal priority, as funding cuts would lead to negative health impacts, reduced services, and cost shifts to counties.
To help county leaders understand what’s at stake, NACo has developed two new resources:
- New Medicaid One-Pager: This one pager reviews key financing reform proposals and their fiscal impact on counties.
- Upcoming Webinar Series on Federal Reforms to Medicaid Financing: This two-part series will take place in May and offer essential insights for counties on potential changes related to Medicaid reform and strategies to navigate them.
- Part 1 on May 6 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. PT – REGISTER HERE
- Part 2 on May 12 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. PT – REGISTER HERE
