Treasurer’s Office Webinar Series: Resources for Local Leaders

Next Wednesday, September 17, at 1:00 PM, the California State Treasurer’s Office will host another installment of its quarterly Inside the Vault: Resources for Local Leaders webinar series. Since it launched last summer, the Treasurer’s Office has used this series to provide local governments with updates and information on programs and resources available for their communities. During next week’s session, the Treasurer’s Office will provide information about the ScholarShare 529 Program, a tax-advantage account for college savings, and how the California School Finance Authority can help finance educational facilities. More information about the topics covered during the webinar is included below.  

ScholarShare 529 Program 
The webinar will include an overview of the ScholarShare 529 Program, which provides California families access to low-cost, tax-advantage saving investment vehicles for eligible colleges, universities, vocational schools, and even graduate or postgraduate programs. Chaired by the State Treasurer, the seven-member ScholarShare Investment Board oversees and administers this fund, setting investment policies and monitoring the program’s performance.  

California School Finance Authority 
The California School Finance Authority (CSFA), also chaired by the State Treasurer, administers numerous grant and loan programs focused on assisting non-profit borrowers, school districts, and community colleges with meeting their facility and working capital needs. This webinar will provide an overview of how these programs can be used to finance educational facilities.
