WEBINAR: AB 339 Explained: New Labor Notice Rules for Public Contracting
Back to News
On December 15th, CSAC, Rural County Representatives (RCRC), Urban Counties of California (UCC), California Special Districts Association (CSDA), Cal Cities, and Liebert Cassidy Whitmore hosted a webinar to help agencies prepare to implement AB 339 (Ortega, 2025).
Effective January 1, 2026, AB 339 (Ortega) will require local agencies to notify union representatives at least 45 days in advance before issuing a request for proposals, request for quotes, or to renew or extend an existing contract for services within the scope of work for represented employees.
This session offered both policy context and a technical breakdown of the new requirements for contracting under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, along with strategies for implementation.
