Join the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) for an upcoming webinar on the Managed Care Plan – Correctional Facility Memorandum of Understanding (MCP-CF MOU). This session will walk through key updates to the finalized MOU template and provide guidance to support smoother transitions and improved care coordination for justice-involved individuals.

This session will provide an overview of the key modifications made to the MOU template following stakeholder feedback. This includes clarification on who the appropriate signatories should be, a detailed timeline outlining expectations for entering into the MOU, and updated guidance designed to support smoother transitions and ultimately improve care coordination across counties. Please contact CalAIMJusticeAdvisoryGroup@dhcs.ca.gov for any questions.

DHCS’ Justice-Involved Readiness Assessment Webinar is designed specifically for counties and partners who have not yet participated in the readiness process.

This session will include:

  • A detailed walkthrough of the updated steps and structure
  • Key changes to procedures and expectations for counties
  • Best practices and tips for successful completion
  • Opportunities to ask questions and receive clarification directly from DHCS staff

Who should attend:
This webinar is highly recommended for county correctional health partners, reentry coordinators, and any stakeholders involved in planning, implementing, or supporting services for justice-involved populations. County correctional partners who’ve already gone through the readiness process and behavioral health agencies are welcome to attend. Please direct questions and comments to CalAIMJusticeAdvisoryGroup@dhcs.ca.gov

California has implemented major reforms across the behavioral health, housing, and justice systems aimed at reducing the number of people with behavioral health needs who are involved in, or at risk of involvement in, the criminal justice system.

CalHHS and the Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center will host a session on Wednesday December 17th from 10:00 am to 11:00 AM to help local leaders make sense of the evolving landscape, interpret emerging data, and apply insights to strengthen local strategies for supporting populations with behavioral health needs and justice involvement.

  • Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2025
  • Time: 10:00 – 11:00 AM
  • Location: Zoom

This webinar is designed to help counties maximize resources for these populations, particularly as Behavioral Health Departments prepare their three-year Integrated Plan for the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA). The session will also highlight ways to leverage the Community Assistance, Recovery & Empowerment (CARE) Act and Medi-Cal resources to streamline planning, reduce duplication, and increase the impact of local efforts. Attendees will:

  • Understand the changing landscape of justice, health, and housing systems.
  • Hear from local leaders about innovative approaches and lessons learned.
  • Gain actionable strategies to strengthen BHSA planning and optimize resource alignment.

This event is open to anyone, but is intended for county behavioral health leaders, justice system partners, health and housing administrators, community-based providers, and others involved in planning or implementing services for people with behavioral health needs and justice involvement.
