Conservatorship of E.A. (S287241)

The California Supreme Court is considering whether a person whose trial concerning a conservatorship petition is delayed is entitled to an automatic dismissal of the conservatorship, or whether they must show harm before the conservatorship is dismissed. CSAC’s amicus brief, which was prepared by William Sias in the Los Angeles County Counsel’s Office, argues that automatic dismissal is contrary to the statute and can be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the conservatee and the community.
