SB 231 (Hertzberg) would authorize counties, cities, and local water agencies to finance stormwater projects in the same manner as other public works projects under Proposition 218. CSAC and RCRC support SB 231, which is on the Assembly floor. This bill would provide a more efficient and cost effective method to raise revenue for urgently needed stormwater projects, helping counties, cities, and local water agencies to improve water supply reliability and maintain water quality.
AB 1587 (Levine) aims to help control the spread of invasive quagga and zebra (dreissenid) mussels in California’s bodies of water. CSAC supports AB 1587, which will be heard in the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee on June 27.
AB 184 (Berman) will extend the sunset date on an existing database regarding planning for sea level rise. This will continue the important work of coordinating and planning for sea level rise to ensure that California is as prepared as possible for the coming changes. CSAC supports AB 184, which will be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee on June 26.
