CSAC Requesting Feedback on CPUC’s Proposed Wireless Resiliency Rules

June 18, 2020

On June 11th, the CPUC released a proposed decision that would require wireless providers to develop comprehensive resiliency strategies to prepare for catastrophic disasters and power outages. This decision would promulgate resiliency requirements for wireless provider’s facilities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 High Fire Threat Districts. Specifically, the decision would:

  • Define resiliency
  • Require 72 hour back-up power generation for wireless provider facilities
  • Require wireless providers to file Communications Resiliency Plans
  • Permit the near-term use of diesel power for back-up
  • Would require wireless providers to submit annual emergency operations plans

CSAC is requesting feedback on this proposed decision by June 26th COB. Please review the proposed decision and email feedback to Nick Cronenwett at ncronenwett@counties.org.
