PG&E Submits Testimony to CPUC Regarding November and October 2019 PSPS Shutdown Events
February 13, 2020
PG&E submitted testimony in response to the CPUC’s Order to Show Cause (OSC) in Rulemaking 18-12-005 (De-energization). The statement provides policy background regarding the massive public safety Power Shutdown (PSPS) events that took place in October and November of 2019. Specifically, the statement provides an overview of the work that PG&E did to prepare for the October and November PSPS events, addresses areas identified in the OSC Scoping Memo where PG&E fell short, and explains what PG&E has done and is doing in response to those shortcomings to ensure they don’t happen in the future. This testimony may be helpful to counties in PG&E territory because it provides a more detailed look at PG&E’s PSPS decision making process.
