Solano Takes Best of Show in State Fair County Exhibits
July 14, 2016
If Walt Disney wanted to depict the best things about your county, what do you think he would come up with? Each year participating counties from all over California build exhibits that exemplify the best of California’s counties. The results are on display through the run of the California State Fair at Cal Expo in Building A. Five judges from various backgrounds and organizations had the pleasurable experience of judging the Counties Exhibits, and while each exhibit is unique, they display the myriad of cultures, events, landscapes and agricultural crops our counties have to offer.
Twenty-four counties took part of this year’s exhibits, all of them scoring either a Silver or Gold medals of excellence. Solano County took home both the Best of Show Award as well as the Best of Division 1 (Community-Built) Award. Yolo County scored two awards with Best Craftsmanship Award and Best Use of Produce, Products or Artifacts. Glenn County was also presented with two awards for the Best Content award and Best Use of Special Effects, Animation or Technology Award. Amador County was awarded with Best of Division 2 (Professionally-Built) Award for their impressive wigwam display and native artifacts while Sacramento County earned the Best Marketing Presentation Award. Sonoma County won the Best Agricultural Presentation Award and Mono County won Best Design Award.
The counties exhibits share beautiful sights, fun local trivia, rich history and bountiful produce and goods with Fair Goers. With so much to see and learn from our California Counties, the real winners are the California State Fair visitors.
Thank you to all of our participating counties!
