White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health Listening Sessions
May 19, 2022
In September, the White House will host a Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. The aim of this conference is to bring together public and private stakeholders around a coordinated strategy for ending hunger, increasing healthy eating and physical activity, and reducing disparities and diet-related diseases. Counties play a key role in the social safety net and have an important perspective to provide related to hunger, nutrition, food, and health.
To help inform the development of the conference, the White House will be hosting a series of regional listening sessions. For the West Coast & Pacific, a listening session is scheduled for Thursday, June 9 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm PDT. The full list of listening sessions and registration information can be found here.
They will be organized around the five pillars of the White House Conference, which are: (1) Improve food access and affordability; (2) Integrate nutrition and health; (3) Empower all consumers to make and have access to healthy choices; (4) Support physical activity for all; and (5) Enhance nutrition and food security research.
