Description:

There is one full-time vacancy in the Marin County Employees’ Retirement Association (MCERA) for an Accounting Assistant. The Accounting Assistant is the journey-level in the series which functions independently in a departmental setting and/or as a member of an accounting office support team. Under the direction of the Assistant Retirement Administrator and the Senior Accountant, the Accounting Assistant is a key member of the MCERA accounting team and handles accounts receivable and accounts payable, assists with processing Retirement Board trustees’ stipends and performs a variety statistical, financial, fiscal and/or office support duties, primarily using Microsoft Excel.

Qualifications:

Experience working for a retirement system or related industry such as payroll, employee benefits, insurance or investments; experience processing a variety of financial transactions requiring attention to accuracy and detail; the ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees; a commitment to customer service in dealing with members, partner agencies and departmental personnel; 2 years’ accounting and/or financial office support experience, including preparing, processing and maintaining accounting documents and records. Education or professional training directly related to the work may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
