Description:

Within the Fiscal Services Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Accounting Technician is the highest technical support position in the accounting series and will work to perform difficult, technical and complex accounting tasks, which include payroll, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, preparing and analyzing budget transactions, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and other financial, accounting or budgetary support.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has experience working in a finance setting, is proficient with automated financial systems, demonstrates sound understanding of the accounting cycle, and has strong analytical skills. Previous or current experience in payroll and accounts payable and receivables are preferred. In addition, proficient with excel spreadsheets, has strong organizational skills, the ability to schedule and execute tasks effectively, the ability to reason-out and analyze logical steps, a high attention to detail, and a strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department and team members. Minimum Qualifications: Typically, equivalent to completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with major course work in accounting, bookkeeping or a field related to the work AND two years of accounting or financial office support experience. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
