Description:

The Assistant Bureau Chief of Public Health reports to the Public Health Bureau Chief who also serves as the County Health Officer. The Assistant manages, directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Bureau. The position has responsibility for the Bureau’s fiscal and administrative services including bureau budget and fiscal management, program contracts and grants management, and accounts payable. The position also manages several public health programs within the Bureau.

Qualifications:

  • Confer with and assist the Bureau Chief in the monitoring of ongoing operations of the bureau.
  • Exercise effective verbal and written communication skills; interface and collaborate effectively at multiple levels; establish and maintain liaisons with relevant professional groups and agencies on various governmental levels.
  • Develop and implement goals and strategies consistent with the Department mission and values.
  • In consultation with the Bureau Chief, formulate and manage bureau budget and bureau financial resources effectively; identify budgetary and financial gaps and make responsible and effective recommendations to fill gaps.
