Description:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Deputy Director is a policy advisor to the Commission and the Executive Director. The Chief Deputy Director under the purview of the Executive Director, is responsible for directing the Commission’s policies, programs, and serves as the chief of staff and oversees the internal operations of the Commission.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulations that apply to and impact the Commission.
Demonstrated ability to:
Supervise a professional staff, ensure deadlines are met.
Develop and implement improvements and innovations.
Effectively apply logic and creativity in decision-making processes.
Successfully apply motivational and negotiating skills, and represent the Commission in a consulting and coordinating capacity.
Communicate clearly with members of the public, the press and the Legislature.
Publicly present policy issues before the Legislature, State boards and commissions, various control agencies, and stakeholders.
Understanding of how diverse communities of California are affected by transportation policy and funding decisions.
