 $115,943 – $158,267 annually, DOQ.

Description:

The newly created Housing and Community Development Department is responsible for Land Use, including Building Services, Planning, Engineering, Hydrology and Housing. Under the new format, it’s anticipated that the Chief of Building Services will direct the activities of the Development Services Division consisting of Building, Engineering and Environmental Services. The Chief will oversee the development and administration of policies that ensure compliance with and enforcement of applicable law, the General Plan, zoning ordinances and other county regulations. The new Chief is expected to coordinate with the other land use Divisions and departments across the County to help customers develop projects.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned building official with technical knowledge of the California Building Code and possess previous experience in a coastal community. A typical background for this role would include a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field and five years of administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in building inspection, code compliance or engineering with responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing staff and activities of a program. A Master’s degree and possession and designation as a Certified Building Official from the ICC or CALBO, are highly desired.
