$150,808 – $205,969 Annually

Description:

Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, directs and reviews the management and administration of the County Probation Department which includes adult and juvenile supervision and rehabilitation, directs enforcement of regulatory provisions of the California Government Code, the California Welfare and Institutions Code and the California Penal Code as related to the functions of the Probation Department and performs related work as required.

The Chief Probation Officer is charged with responsibility for the overall policy, administration and management of the Probation Department. The Chief Probation Officer is under administrative direction of the judges of the Superior Court.

Qualifications:

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent institution with a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice, the Behavioral or Social Sciences, Criminology, Public or Business Administration or a closely related field.

AND

Experience:

Six years of increasing responsible experience performing extensive probation administrative/managerial duties; three years of which shall have been in a senior level administrative managerial position, comparable to the Assistant Chief Probation Officer class series in Monterey County.
