$112,002-$136,732 DOE

Description:

Under policy direction, plans, organizes, manages, and provides administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Probation Department, including Adult Probation Unit, Juvenile Probation Unit, Administrative Unit, and Juvenile Hall; fosters cooperative working relationships among County departments and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Presiding Judge and County Administrative Officer in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required. Receives policy direction from the Presiding Judge and the Board of Supervisors; and administrative direction from the County Administrative Officer.

Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or related field and 10 years of increasingly responsible probation and corrections experience involving the evaluation, administration, management, and control of varied types of probation programs, including at least 5 years at a management level.
Successful completion of Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) Basic Supervisor Core Course.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License by time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record.
Possession of a valid California Penal Code 832 certificate, for appointment as a peace officer.
