A hidden jewel in Northern California

Located in the lower reaches of the Cascade Range midway between Redding in Shasta County and the Northern Redwood Coast, Trinity County encompasses approximately 3,200 square miles in northwestern California. The County is seeking an innovative, collaborative and service-oriented professional to serve as its County Administrative Officer (CAO). This is a wonderful opportunity for a creative and resourceful leader to help shape the future of this northern California community rich in history, culture and diversity. The County is supported by a FY ’15-’16 total budget of approximately $107.6 million and a staff of 316.

The ideal candidate is a strong, visionary leader committed to public service who possesses the ability to earn respect and to foster innovative solutions to County problems through sound administrative practices and strategic planning skills. Candidates who are creative and receptive to new ideas with a commitment to positive change will be favorably considered. The new CAO will be an experienced and talented public sector executive who is knowledgeable of state/federal governmental processes with significant experience and a proven track record of sound fiscal management. Candidates who have experience in a jurisdiction of similar makeup and complexities and with the ability to build and maintain cooperative relationships will be favorably considered.

Qualifications:

Five years of increasingly responsible experience performing complex budgetary, financial, policy and organizational analysis duties including experience working directly with an elected board or council is anticipated. A broad background in planning, monitoring and executing programs and general local government operations is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or a related field is desirable with a Master’s degree preferred.
