The Position: The San Mateo County Health Department is seeking a seasoned leader for the position of Deputy Chief of Health, to plan, organize, and direct major divisions of the County’s Health Department to advance the mission of helping all San Mateo County residents to live longer and better lives. The Deputy Chief also leads cross departmental strategic initiatives and partners with the Chief of Health in cultivating innovation, ensuring sound operating, and financial practices across the Health Department and in the development, implementation coordination, and improvement of all County health services and functions. The Deputy Chief represents the Chief in every capacity and offers substantial potential for development towards advancement opportunities.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is five years of experience performing a wide variety of high-level administrative, budgetary or management oversight and analysis duties in a large health services agency that oversees both direct care/delivery system functions as well as public health regulatory functions.
